Smith) Come from? Record of Alice Smith's birth is missing!
During her life time she claimed to have been in an Orphanage from a
young age, her father and brother dying in WW1, and her mother dying
young. Could this be a reference to Martley
Workhouse. When she married Harry (Henry Edward Hopkins)
the marriage record records father not know and Alice's address
given as Hill End Cottage Martley. Below record taken from

Blanche Ellen Thompson (nee Hart) Harold's first wife? resolved she died in 1960, buried next to
Harold in Lodge Hill Cemetery, Selly Oak Next question is how did Harold meet Mary
Instance? Was Florence Elsie May Instance Harold's
daughter? When did Harold marry Mary (best guess is
between 1923 and 1925)? Did Harold and Mary get married!? probably
not as Blanche was not dead and no record of divorce! I've still not identified what the name of Harry's football team
(HSVFC). Harry (Henry Edward Hopkins) is second from left on the
front row.
